57. See the last 2 HP movies at the midnight premiere
For the very last movie I saw it in 3D at the local theater (mostly because non 3D was sold out….). I really did enjoy it & being in 3D didn’t take away from it as it does sometimes. It just gave things depth, no cheap tricks of things flying at you. I did enjoy it, & I presume most of the theater did as well judging by the complete silence except for the sniffling. It did differ greatly from the books, but since I only read the book once & that was when it first came out, most of the stuff I just don’t recall anymore. I do wish I had been able to see some of the other characters older…even though I really wasn’t all that impressed with it…I think mostly I’m just sad to see the Harry Potter “era” end, even though there’s a theme park (I’m really thinking of trying to convince Cal to have our honeymoon in Orlando….for Universal’s HP (there’s BUTTERBEER FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!) as well as Disney World) plus the books will always be around. But I think in a lot of ways the fervor for it will die down.
63. Go to San Diego Comic-Con
Oooooooooooh, it was a great time! I literally ran into Vyxen from the Amazing Race (they were nice & let me take a photo with them!). Plus I saw Patricia Briggs when I was leaving one of the days & she happily posed for a photo with me. How awesome was that!?! I got an award ribbon from Girl Genius for my costume. I loved my costume, but I felt so subpar when I looked at a lot of the other steampunk costumes. They were so much more elaborate & awesome…Cal did point out a valid point though, I made ours from scratch as much as possible while there’s were store bought since there were repeat items. I still really loved the guy who had the working telegraph machine for a backpack. That was ingenious & amazing & awesome!! I’m not sure if I want to go back though, I mean it was great & fun. But, it’s a TON of work & would definitely want to be on the free transportation line so I could come & go as I pleased. But mostly, I keep finding so many other conventions (sorta eyeballing Gen Con next…) that it just isn’t feasible to try & go to multiple cons when 1 costs everything saved up & we’ve only gone to the ones that are DRIVEABLE. Gen Con isn’t really driveable, nor is DragonCon. Well, I will see how things fall. It’d be great to be able to go back to Comic Con, but it may be years & years from now, or it may somehow miraculously be next year. Either way, I know I’ll still be working on my costume to make it better. First off is a cooler top hat!
